Native Americans and Alaska Natives have considerably increased rates of alcohol and drug abuse and addiction than other races, an a circumstance which must be aknowledged for these cultures to survive. Although the causes may vary from person to individual, the majority of of the reasons for the high rates of substance abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents appear to have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The most apparent hurdles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for addiction are cultural challenges and their language. For this reason it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Los Banos, California obtain substance abuse treatment in a drug and alcohol rehab facility that is culturally acceptable, but most importantly in a drug rehab that considers the need to supply drug and alcohol rehabilitation in their language.
